A handy shelter that's stood there,
judging from the graffitti on the
walls, at least 25 years. It's in not
too bad a shape

And this concludes my 4-hour hike in the Ringwood section of the Ramapo Mt. trail. It was rather short. Certainly not as long as I expected. I had planned to hike 2 hrs. in and 2 hrs. back out, but that wasn't necessary. The end of the trail came out in Shepherds Lake area, near the parking lot. I had then traversed down the bike trail till it came out onto a road, which I had no desire to walk along, so I returned to the Red trail and hiked back the way I came. An enjoyable excursion to be sure!
